What to do when important documents get water damaged?

When documents get water-damaged, the stress of a home or business owner gets elevated further.

It is very important for any home or business to have a back-up copy as well as plan in case flood or water damage affects important documents.

ABC 15 News shared the advice of South Carolina libraries to home and business owners with regard to documents getting damaged by flooding.

“Photographs that are stuck together should be wrapped in wax paper and frozen. As the photographs thaw, individual photos can be peeled and placed on an absorbent surface to air dry.”

BBC meanwhile reported about the document restoration for a big church in Manchester following a flooding that occurred in the area.

“Bibles, parish registers and the legal deeds of a Greater Manchester church are being professionally restored after they were severely damaged in last month’s floods. When the water poured into St Mary’s Church in Radcliffe, it threatened to ruin precious documents including marriage and baptism records.”
